For Jemma
for Flute & Piano
For Jemma was written for my daughter, who coincidentally is
named Jemma. Since she enjoys her flute studies. I wrote this for
her as a graduation present since after all that tuition I couldn't
afford to buy her a real one. Emotionally, the work is poignant and
sweet. Stylistically, the
work is an homage to Gabriel Faure, who
wrote a well-known sicilliano in Gm, the same key. The work was premiered
May 22, 2005 by the Palisades Virtuosi. They enjoyed it so much that
they played it again, back to back at the same concert. Duration:
4 minutes. The flute part is appropriate for an upper intermediate
student, and makes excellent recital material. |
